Dedicated to being
an interstellar
biscuit connoisseur.
Not all biscuits are created equal. We believe in buttermilk, lard, backroads, scratch-made goodness, friendly folks, and the sacred duty to separate the Bangers from the Baggers.
Backroads.
Butter.
Biscuits.
The quest is on.
In Search of the Perfect Biscuit
Some quests begin with a map. Some begin with a dream. This one began with a biscuit.
For Kurt Lee Wheeler, the love of a good Southern biscuit goes all the way back to childhood — and to his mama’s kitchen, where the biscuits were homemade, warm, flaky, and just about perfect. Ever since then, he’s known one simple truth: not all biscuits are created equal.
A Southern boy at heart, Kurt is a recently retired school teacher, singer-songwriter, motorcycle enthusiast, husband to Janet, proud dad of two, and grandfather to one lucky little granddaughter. After years in the classroom and years on stage, he’s now taking his talents to the backroads — riding from town to town in search of scratch-made biscuit greatness.
That search became Bustin’ Biscuits: a lighthearted quest that takes Kurt wherever a great biscuit might be found — small-town restaurants, country cafes, roadside diners, gas stations, and unexpected local gems — celebrating the people and places along the way, while separating the true Bangers from the dreaded Baggers.
(For the uninitiated, a Banger is scratch-made. Fresh. Flaky. Buttery. Worth the drive. The Bagger is premade. Packaged. Suspiciously uniform. The quest continues).
So pull up a chair, pour some coffee, and join the ride.
The perfect biscuit is out there.
And Kurt intends to find it.
“A bold garment for anyone brave enough to ask the question: Is this biscuit a Banger… or a Bagger?”
Proceed with butter.
